just wandering weather anyone else out their has had one mine was an unsourced sah they could,nt find what caused it i have no pysical problems just finding it hard to move on its been 9 months now having trouble with nausea some to talk to who has been through the same would be nice

I had a subarrachnoid haemorrhage in 1993, then got hydrocephalus and had a shunt fitted.

The bleed came quite out of the blue -- I felt a bit odd in the middle of the day, and the next thing I knew was that I'd got visual disturbances, lost all sense of where my body was and felt very, very sick. Then I remember nothing for about 3 weeks.

It was very weird when I was allowed home -- though my memory of that time is very woolly and vague. The whole thing finished off my marriage and I was left on my own for hours and hours, in a cottage in the middle of nowhere; and when my hysband did come back, he was a cold fish, to say the least.

BUT ... hey! I'm still here! And we have to remember that most people aren't survivors, like we are. (That's just a little thought to show that I'm not all gloomy... )

Nine months, me dear, is no time at all! I'm not surprised you're still feeling delicate. It is slow work getting over sah, so don't expect too much too soon, but do look back and recognise that you are moving forward, every day.

I think it took me a good 12 months to feel confident on my own and I carried on making progress. I'm probably as good as I'm going to get, now, and I'm pleased with what I am. Not much different than before, to be honest -- a bit more excentric and ditzy ... but, hey! why not??

If you're worried about the nausea -- or anything else -- do go back and talk to your doctor.

hi thanks for the reply been back to doctor she is sending me to the camera thing down in my stomach to see if their is any thing their causing the nausea
other wise she said it could be coming from stress /depression have to wait and see you must have had a ruff trot 3 weeks i was only in hospital for 12days i thank god im still here with my family i have 3 children all i wont is to feel happy and healthy again

I certainly had a fair amount of depression -- and it's really not surprising. But it doesn't last for ever.

You know, they call what we had a CVA -- a Cerebrovascular Accident. And that 'Accident' word is just about right! It really shakes you up, physically and mentally. No -- that's not strong enough: it completely batters your whole system.

I gather from your post that you were lucky -- like me -- and didn't have to learn to walk or talk again. But that doesn't mean you haven't been damaged. You've been through one heck of an experience. And you're still coping with it.

You don't feel guilty about not being 100% yet, do you? Because 9 months is early days, don't forget that. And looking after your children as well is an amazing achievement. I don't think I'd have coped if I'd had kids.

Oh dear, this is turning into a great long post again! And I could go on for ever. So for now, I'll just say surround yourself with supportive friends and family, talk about how you are and what you're feeling, and make sure you get good, understanding medical care.

I had an unsourced SAH in August of 2003. I have had bouts of depression as well.

I was in morphine induced coma for two and half weeks, had another couple of weeks of therapy and was back to work in 2 months. It was a rigorous and awful experience.

Expecially when I got the 400,000 dollar medical bill and still had to pay 10 percent. There lies the true criminals -- The insurance companies!!!!

Of what I have read, the worst SAH you can get is the unsourced type. It is expected you'll get another one in 2 years. Which is why it is next to impossible to get life insurance in the first two years. Any kind. Even the kind the old people can get on TV. I have past my two year mark and can get life insurance a little easier. I still have to pay a huge premium, but it is worth it for my wife and kid.

At least they'll be provided for, if and when I pass.

Good grief! I'd never heard of unsourced SAH, so I've just been Googling away to find out.

I thought my burst aneurysm (?spelling?) was bad -- but unsourced SAH sounds horrific.

Really puts things into perspective. As does your comment about the medical insurance. I can moan about the National Health Service here in the UK (and I have) but I haven't had to pay a penny for my treatment. I was in a specialist neuro hospital for about 6 weeks, had a couple of operations and then had to have a VP shunt fitted. Then back to my local hospital for a week or so. And it cost me nothing. (Well, it cost me my marriage -- but that's another thing!)

So HURRAH! for the NHS. (Even though they couldn't tell me why I itched and itched and itched uncontrollably for a couple of months.)

I have had severe problems with restless leg sydrome or RLS as it is called here. I have been taking Requip for this and Clophin just to go to sleep. The itching is a common problem.

had camera down throat got chronic infalmation no diabetes inspudus which they say sometimes after a bleed you can get nausea comes and goes did you have any weird sensations in your head sometimes i have what feels like a wave sensation at the back of my head it scares me on anti depressants which seem to help some times i have a drink of acohol seems to effect me quicker than normal does that happen to anyone else

Still have weird sensations in the back of my head. Still worry about it coming back. Since the back of your head and the back of your neck are the places you first notice an SAH. I tried anti-depressents but they gave me too much heartburn. Now I just work out to get over depression and it works pretty well.
