Default Bloody Saliva

I am a 43-year old non-smoker who suffers from acid reflux. I have been taking Protonix for about a year and a half. Unfortunately when I wake up in the morning I often have a sore throat. The symptoms usually dissipate fairly quickly. My concern is that I sometimes have blood Usually bright red) in my saliva. Generally, this happens immediately after I eat something. Then it goes away.

Last year, I had an upper GI and chest x-ray. Both were negative. Any thoughts on what might be causing this problem? Could it be related to a sinus condition? Thanks.
