Default vertigo + other symptoms

I've been having vertigo since Feburary, plus (at the same time) feeling nauseous and a headache. The headache (and to a lesser extent the naseua) continue past the dizzy spell. For a while I was having them several times a month, to one every other week, to not one for an entire month, back to every week. Today and yesterday, I had 3. I've been to 5 different doctors (PCP, ENT, endocrinologist, neurolist (2 MRIs), opthmologist) and none of them have helped. I've tried Allegra for excess fluid in my ear (didn't help), to multiple MRIs but found nothing, to exercises b/c of supposedly positional vertigo (did absolutely no good).

Has anyone ever had this happen to them? I'm at a loss of what to think/do next. It's getting ridiculous having to wake up every morning and hope I don't get vertigo that day so I can go about my routine (college/working).

Anyone have any experience with this?

A friend of mine had bad bouts of vertigo, and found a chiropractor that does the "Epley maneuver" and that stops her vertigo. I don't know much about it, but you could Google it and find out quite I bit, I think.

It eventually turned out that her vertigo was due to MS. She has the kind that doesn't spread fast and disable you.

Hi there, well I have been suffering from dizziness, unsteadiness or imbalance for the last year. I also suffer frequent bouts of naseau when this happens. I have been referred to an ENT so hopefully they may find what the problem could be. My GP suspects it may be Labrynthtis or even worse Menieres Disease. Every morning I wake up I suffer really bad brain fog, the only way I can explain it is a feeling of disorientation with pressure in the head. This also makes me feel dizzy. I also have been getting headaches but I think they may be stress related as having this constant dizzy sensation makes me feel anxious. Fingers crossed I get to the bottom of this but I have been having problems with my ears for the last year so hopefully this is the problem.
Anyway I hope you get an answer soon cause I know how it feels to not know whats wrong. Its scary. Goodluck anyway, hope you feel better soon.

since nothing can be found ,consider anxiety.we all have enough to worry about!nothing you report is inconsistent with anxiety.

Question Re: vertigo + other symptoms

Hi
I have had many attacks of vertigo (only 3 major ones, but many - a few times a month - less severe ones). I have mentioned it to a specialist (in General Medicine, who my GP sent me to see about a few problems) but he didnt even seem to understand what I meant! I have had both the rotational vertigo, feeling like I was spinning and couldnt keep my eyes on a fixed spot, and the other one that when you move your head, everything lags behind and follows slowly! I have no idea whats going on, and constantly have headaches (although not as many lately...) that feel like my brain is rattling around inside my skull (if I lean forwards, my head aches and has pressure in the front, and if I lean backwards or sideways it goes that way). The first time I had vertigo I vomited, I think because of a "motion sickness" type thing, where the spinning sensation made me so dizzy. My attacks range from an hour to a day, and once went all through the night and into the next day.
Not sure if this is as bad as what you are experiencing, but I sure want to know what is going on. My GP (family dr.) said if it continues I may have to have a head CT scan, so Im thinking I will have that done.
Any info or other experiences would be helpful.
Hopefully your vertigo improves more over time.
Thanks

Exclamation Re: vertigo + other symptoms

Hi,

I would like to suggest to all of you to check out a medical condition called: pernicious anemia. At this site, in the search box, and look at the information and see if that fits your case.

Symptoms of pernicious anemia: fatigue, weakness, upset stomach, abnormally rapid heartbeat, jaundice, brain fog, breathlessness, headaches that last longer and longer until you have them 24/7, numbness and tingling of the arms and legs, extreme mood changes, sore tongue, vision distortions-seeing stars-or double vision, diarrhea and constipation.

If you think that these symptoms fits you, I suggest that you see your doctor and have him/her run some blood tests, like: CBC (complete blood count) and a vitamin B-12 cascade.

If you have pernicious anemia, you need to act in a timely manor. It is very treatable but if left untreated it can cause damage in the brain and spinal cord that may or may not be able to be fixed.

I WISH YOU ALL GOOD LUCK...TAKE CARE...SKEETER.

Question Re: vertigo + other symptoms

Hi "Skeeter",

I was also wondering about "Meniere's Disease"...? Do you know anything about it? I have read about the symptoms, etc. and my case doesnt seem to have all of the symptoms, but definately the headaches and vertigo on and off. It started about 2 years ago, nothing until the next year (I think it may have been the EXACT date the next year!!! maybe a co-incidence, but maybe not!) and from then on was a couple of times every couple of months, sometimes more sometimes less. It is usually the one that everything lags behind, but the first and second ones were the spinning ones - majorly spinning, could not keep my eyes fixed on anything for more than a second, and would keep falling to one side and having to re-align myself straight all the time.
Any suggestions? Can a head CT rule out or confirm anything like Menieres disease or other things?
Thanks.

Not much information...but I hope that it helps.

GOOD LUCK...TAKE CARE...SKEETER.

Have you ever thought about Multiple Sclerosis? I have had the same symptoms (dizziness, vertigo, headaches, general uncoordination) for six months, along with some previous history. I am being screened for MS now. It's definitely worth checking into.

Migraine can cause vertigo. I think this is migraine. This doesn't sound like MS>
