it kind of sounds like mine, I woke up one morning and it hurt to swallow and I looked in the mirror and my tonsils were huge and I had alot of white stuff on it and a couple days after that i started to get white stuff on the other tonsil. So im pretty sure i have strep thorat but the doctor say its just a sore throat but i dont think they know what they're talking about.

The MD is suppose to swab your throat and send it off to be tested for strep.

You probably have esophagitis. I have it bad. It sucks balls because everytime I drink alchahol it makes me feel like **** the next day. It started out exactly as you guys are explaining. It feels dry all of the time and like there's something caught behind your mouth. Do not smoke anything. I quit cigarettes and meth because if ****s up my throat ten times as bad as drinking does. The drinking is pretty heavy too. It's caused by acid reflux. Everytime you drink something really cold, over eat, or drink and eat some selected things your stomach will make like a jerk that kind of resembles the feeling of a hick up. Then the stomach acid actually burns your throat. It occurs most often when you sleep. So I reccomend that you try and catch it early as possible because now I have growths in the back of my throat and mouth. The aggitation can cause the skin cells to mutate which leads to Barett's Esophagus. It's kind of scary and supposed to never go away. I really need to get tested for it but I recently lost my job and have yet to see the doctor again. Take some prilosec or something for the reflux. Or if you can't afford the perscriprtion then you can always try the cheaper home remedy. Which contains 250 ml of water, and then adding 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinigar and 1 third teaspoon of baking powder to lower the ph level. It's not too bad if you just straight down that ****, but I'm still deciding how effective it is. Take it three times a day, 5 times a week. Regular vinigar works also, they're both pretty rank though. I'm about to post and ask if anyone knows how to soothe the throat. I can't find **** on google. Except manuka honey and some ancient oriental herbal remedy witch runs around 400 hundred bucks. If anyone decides to purchase it let me know because I am really tempted and I'd like a solid opinion on it.

I too have the dry throat problem. It started with a tickle and now just dry. I am also desperate to find something to relieve it. I now use cough drops and drink lots of water. wish I had an answer to help us all.

That's old news for me. We have esophagitis which up until very recently I've been taking no medication for as long as it's run its coarse. No matter how tempted or distraught you may be, if you care about your body be sure to refuse smoking of any sort and alchohol including beer. When you can get a perscripton for acid reflux. For now you can just by some prylosec from Wal-Mart. I mean this whole thing good be a little early to call but, it's almost a sure thing and defenite if you find youself making a strange involuntary hickuping of sort after you drink anything cold (Especially milk) or eating anything really greasy or spicy. Good luck, my life's gone to hell

its apparently called Gastroesophageal reflux disease and can either be nothing at all, or very serious. It has been linked to HIV, I think I have it, although I was smoking from a shish pipe recently so that could be causing the symptoms.
