False negative syphillis test. Please help!

Hello, I feel certain that I have been misdiagnosed. I tested negative for syphillis and have all the symptoms. No doctor believes that it is possible especially with negative results. I have tried using herbal supplements to cure myself which I believe maybe be why it didn't show up in blood tests. I am on antibiotics (doxycycline hyc) and feel 100% better but once my prescription wears out I fear the same symptoms will return without proper treatment. Since my local hospital and family doctor won't believe me I went to a dermatologist to have him look at my almost healed lesion. He didn't believe me either. I wanted him to take a sample from the lesion and test it before it healed and he wouldn't. I am getting another blood test through a lab he referred me to. From what I read about neurosyphillis I will need to have spinal fluid extracted. I fear that I will not be able to convince a doctor to perform this test. I can't list all the details here but I do believe it is possible to get later stages of syphillis under the right conditions. I am not on here to argue or have someone tell me it is something else. I am totally convinced this is what I have and it is frightening that modern medicine is behind the times. I wish they would just believe me and give me the cure. It is aweful living in fear of the symptoms returning. Since I started the antibiotics I have not noticed any of the neurosyphillus problems but I do notice the damage done. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If anybody can help then please let me know. Please!!!!!!!!

there are no herbal supplements that will hide syphilis from blood tests. when do you think you were exposed? doxycycline will cure you. how many doxycycline did you take? if you had neurosyphilis you wouldnt even be able to post your comment here. doxycycline is the cure. you dont want a spinal tap trust me. if you have to order a syphilis test online or go to pharmacy and get one. you said your getting tested from lab I bet it will be negative. if you did have syphilis the doxycycline cured it. if it actually was syphilis its possible the doxy made you have worse symptoms. if you have syphilis and take doxycycline most cases you will have a reaction that make you feel like you have fever, nausous, cracking joints, back/neck pain, night sweats, chills, ....

You might also consider Lyme disease, also caused by a spirochetal bacterium, in the same family as syphillis. Lyme has been called the "next great imitator" because its symptoms resemble syphillis in variety and complexity, making it hard to diagnose.

You might also consider having a Lyme disease specialist treat you with antibiotics that are effective against either disease, so that no matter which it is, you will get better.

I strongly agree with the poster above me. Get tested for Lyme .

I agree with everyone- please don't be frustrated.
diagnosis are not everything you need, there is a lot you can do to increase your resistance to infections while you await for the results.
make sure you take probiotics, extra vitamins and minerals. extra omega 3 and extra antioxidants. they will help your body heal.
remember the body heals itself- medicine alone can't heal it.
skip the spinal tap.

No one develops resistance to Syphilis. Repeated exposure cripples the immune system so that there is no antibody response, so it's easy to presume that one is not infected, when the opposite is the case.
