Default blastocystis hominis

What treatment do people suggest for blasto? Flagyl hasn't worked and the doctors don't seem to think it's a pathogen but symptoms have existed for over 2 years - diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, sleeplessness, fatigue, loss of appetite.

I recommend you visiting a Naturopath Doctor they will be able to help you. They have helped me. I have been suffering with this condition for over 10 years with symptoms being intermittent. I have had most MD tell me that I need to go on an antidepressent. I think they are the ones that are crazy. Good Luck

I was diagnosed and successfully treated for blasto by a chiropractic/nutritional doctor. He treated me using a couple of different products manufactured by Standard Process. In order to successfully eradicate the blasto, which burrow down into the intestinal wall, I had to go on a progressively restrictive diet, supplemented by a special protein drink, which took a total of about 3 weeks. After treatment my life was changed, I no longer had to live with symptoms of insomnia, bloating, and continual tiredness. Believe me I know the frustration of having to deal with this infection. I picked up the infection after eating bad food in Spain, was diagnosed with it by a conventional MD, only to be told "we don't treat that". I had to live with the infection for 15 years before finally getting successful treatment. There ARE doctors who treat this.

Hi,

I have been chronical ill for 9 years after a eating a kebab in Denmark in 1999. Symptoms are fatigued (specially after eating), trouble sleeping, lose stool and gas. I have taken several stool samples and have positive tests for Blastocystis Hominis. I'm very interested in hearing more about the treatment, which products you used and the diet. Please could you also give me the nutritional doctors contact info?

Hi, please go to badbugs.org They recommend specific antibiotics, the only
medicine to work on b hominis. I tried everything and this is probably the
best and quickest route. Order the medicine from Mexico.

I am an acupuncturist with a focus on digestion and nutrition. I work with an integrative medicine physician. I offer this as our best, and generally successful, treatment for blasto. We use alinia (nitazoxanide). For adults 500 mg. twice a day for 28 days. It is a long course; alinia is usually given in 3 or 6 days. Blasto requires a long treatment. If you get the prescription in the U.S., this will cost over $1000. If you order it from Mexico, perhaps from the website called Medsmex, it will be under $200. Almost every person we have treated has been successful. The medication is well tolerated, usually with few side-effects. The lab we use for diagnosis is Metametrix, but both Genova and Doctors Data should be o.k. for blasto, because usually it is so prolific that it will show up on any of these stool tests. Make sure you wait at least a month or so after treatment to retest, so the bugs have enough time to grow if they still exist. I rarely see this treatment talked about, although it can be found in the research on Alinia if yo look deeply. Good luck. I have seen quite a number of people get their lives back with this treatment.

I am wanting to know more information about the success of a longer rx for Alinia. I was given 10 days worth of Alinia at the highest dose along with Bactrim. Followed by a 14 days worth of ioguinadole. I also have been treated with Alinia 3 days, Bactrim 10 days, Flagyl twice. Symptoms will often disappear for a few months then come back even stronger than before. I read the badbugs website on the 3 antibiotic coctail and wondering if anyone else has taken it. I am at my end and it has been 2 years. I feel toxic and at my end. Please, any help or direction is appreciated.
