I have been having a very weak stomach for several years now and every month without fail I'd have an episode of diarrhoea with stomach pain starting from below the ribcage.
My GP said a couple years back that this was due to tiredness/stress. I'm not doing anything particularly challenging and have a reasonable amount of time for sleep and rest. I'm wondering if I should get a second opinion. It never seems to be caused by anything in particular that I am eating. I eat quite a lot actually, but am thin as a stick most probably due to these episodes of diarrhoea. I'm anemic as well. Everytime I seem to put on some weight, it comes off because of the diarrhoea. I'm getting really sick and frustrated because of this. It's not really Irritable Bowel Syndrome is it? I only have it once a month or so, although my stomach often feels a little off or weird. It's not Coeliac either, probably, because I don't get any instant reactions. Anyone with any ideas would be hugely appreciated. Jenny |

Hi Jenny,
You say you have these episodes once a month, but for how long? Do you have any blood or mucous in your stool? Do you have any constipation during the rest of the month? Is the pain on any side of your stomach or in the middle? Does your pain intesify if you apply pressure and quickly let go of the part of your stomach that hurts? And last but not least, Do you have any kind of joint or tendon pain? Kiera |
