I get them and they are pretty much what you called them. Boils. You can opt to get them cut out, the core that is (or lanced), if they are always in the same place. I get them under my breast also. They can also be infected pores. They drive me nuts. I sweat alot dur to meds and medical issues. I've noticed that since I started using baby wipes during the day as a freshener under my arms and breasts, I get them less.
Its best to check witha dermo just in case though.

After Ten To Fifteen Years Of Blisters Under My Arms And Switching To A Hypoallergenic Deodorant, I Have Discovered That
It Is Certain Fabrics To Which I Am Allergic. The Minute I Develop A Case, I Start Using A 1% Antibiotic Cream And Dispose Of The Offending Garment. The Condition Will Then Clear Up In 3 To 4 Days. Lately I Think I Have Developed An Allergy To Elastic Beneath The Bra And Around The Legs Of My Underpants. I Have Discovered Cotton Panties With Loose Legs But Have No Solution For The Bra Problem. |

Most boils are some type of staph infection. Mention them to your doc or make an appointment to have them swabbed and sent to the lab. If they give you the correct antibiotic for the form of staph you have, you may be able to eliminate them.

I also have had boils under my arms. very painful, sometime's they start smelling when they finally drain. antibiotics don't seem to work and they get worse when I sweat. I have what is called hidradenitis suppurativa. There is not much you can do about them some things work on some people and not on others like for example: draining and packing, accutane and sometimes they'll even do a graft where they take out the sweat tracks in that area but they'll sometimes will come up in another area then. The draining and packing is extreamly painful from personal experience and the accutane didn't help me. I know whereas you weight is not a cause it can make it worse. There are several diff. reasons as to why this happens. I had one lanced and tested one time and it came back as staph. then some say your allergic to your sweat and it causes a prob. with that type of hair folical. go figure they don't really have an answer because enough people has not come foward to say look into this. hope this helps you.

I have over the last year or so developed similar symptoms to this and they have been progressively getting worse. Its red itchy blister like bumps that break and drain. Then scab and heal with time. They seem to be triggered by my bra which makes some docters think is a fabric allergy, but I wear similar underwear with similar materials that don't bother me. Antibiotics were tried but made it only more irritated. Steroid creams seem to help it get better as long as i don't wear a bra, but I can't find a bra that does not trigger it or any all cotton bras. Been to many doctors and dermatologist, but their guess seem to be no better than mine!!!! I need help. Anyone have any advise or suggestions about how to handle the rash and/or what to do about wearing a bra???????

Sounds like HS... short for ... hidradenitis suppurativa.
Don't mess around thinking they're "just" boils. HS causes canals/tunnels under the skin and the boil-looking things keep coming back, draining, etc. Get to a Dermatologist. Before it gets any worse. My regular doctor tried treating me for just "regular" boils for a year before I finally went to a dermatologist, who took one look under my arms and immediately diagnosed me. Trust me, it's no fun. |

For the first time in my life (I'm 60+), I got boils in my armpits, first one, then the other. A doctor lanced the first batch, but new ones grew. I tried eliminating many things--clothes, food etc. hoping to find the cause. Something the doctor said finally sunk in: in looking at the multitude of boils in my left armpit, he said he usually only sees that in gay men. I am not male nor gay. But I associated the comment with having a poor immune system, as in AIDS. I had returned from a trip in which I did not eat well and sometimes went hungry. I think now that that lowered my immune system. So I then made sure my diet included all the vitamins and minerals we're supposed to have and now have clear armpits. We can't perform scientific experiments on ourselves so we can never be sure if we've found the cure for ourselves, but I will make sure I eat properly from now on.
