Default Arnold-Chiari malformation

well i'm 16 years old, and for the past 2 months i had been having really bad pressure in the back, bottom part of my head, and sharp shooting pains up the back of my head. this was acompanied by severe weakness and lightheadedness. and i am now having a lot of vision problems, like black spots [floaters] in one of my eyes, and at night before bed i get these bright, tye-dye like flashes in my eyes which is really irritating.

my doctor sent me for an MRI, which revealed i have something called Chiari malformation, where my cerebellum is lower than it should be. he said that i'm most likely going to have surgery if i want these symptoms to go away.

does anyone else have this?
if so, what was your method of treatment and what was the outcome?

Default Re: Arnold-Chiari malformation

Hi i believe i have the same issue. Since 1999 i have been having dizziness, brain-fog, speech problems, i been feeling drunk 24/7 i am 200% sure Arnold-Chiari malformation is whats causing this. I'm going to see my doctor for the 5th time in two days (August 19th) to confirm this is whats happening. Like i said i have seen my doctor many times and he did not know what was going on he suggested it was allergies, bad diet, lack of exercise (which is crazy cuz i am a skateboarder), and he sent me to get an MRI and visit specialists but nothing was diagnosed =( so i have been ignoring it and sadly i have gotten used to it but every single day i know its there. I'm sorry i don't have the answer you were looking for but when i do i'll make sure to follow up on this post for you and others to see.

Actually, i never heard of Arnold-Chiari malformation until i saw Medical Mysteries on ABC a few weeks ago. I almost wanted to scream Eureka when i heard the story
