Hi, I'm a 37 year old female, non-smoker, non-drinker and non-drug user. For the past 6 months or so, I've noticed a swelling of my inner right cheek (can't see it on the outside of the face, just inside), which would come and go (chronic, seems like). I didn't think nothing of it, until last week, when it decided to stick around - permanently. Moreover, it feels like my lower lip and upper lip on the right side (where the cheek is), are also irritated, and feel swollen - on the inside. I'm really scared that this thickening of cheek and the accompanying irritation/swelling/tenderness of the lips might be some sort of a tumor. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? A feeling of fullness in the mouth, accompanied by swelling of the buccal mucosa and the soft tissue of the lower/upper lip on one side only?

Tonight I was checking my mouth once more and found an elongated raised ridge/lesion on the inside of my upper lip. It was soft to the touch, and slightly paler than the pink skin you normally find on the inner lip. Another mystery adding to a growing number of swellings in my mouth - all happening at the same time. I'm starting to suspect a problem with salivary glands, but I won't be certain until I see my doctor this coming Wednesday.

I'm rather panicky, because the research I've done on the WWW overwhelmingly seems to point to tumors - and so with good reason, I'm here hoping someone can shed a different light on my predicament - before I go see my family physician.

A tumor would be one of the last things I would be guessing at this point. Don't lose sleep over this...there are a number of other things this could be that are more likely..ie salivary gland...trauma....allergy to something.
