Hey folks, first of all let me say that I DO get cold sores. With that in mind, I treated a tingle I got about 5 days ago with my usual iodine cream. The next day though, it had come to a bubble-ish white head that was extremely sensitive to the touch, like a small boil. When I accidentally scratched that head off, I figured (perhaps stupidly) that I may as well give it a squeeze. When I did, a couple of millimetres of fairly solid stuff came out and the sensitivity subsided. It then developed a crust and has almost faded now, though it did split (much like a cold sore) this morning.
My question is, could it have been a cold sore? I've read that any sort of "head" on a lesion eliminates its being a cold sore, and also that cold sores have clear liquid/pus in them, not the paste/goo in my lesion. It's just that initially it felt so much like a cold sore to me!
Also, I kissed my girlfriend about 3 days after the first tingle, when the crust was fairly faded. If it IS a cold sore, how likely is it to have infected her, given I'd been coating it in iodine (which I see is antiviral) for about 4 days straight?
Thansk a lot for any help guys, good little service this is!
