Hello
On 10th March this year I began sweating profusely. These drenching sweats have continued day and night every day since. The main areas of sweating are my chest, all across my shoulders and down my back, breasts, stomach & groin. There is quite a bit of heat coming off my chest when i sweat but the moisture is actually cool. I will often change several times during the day. I experience several days where I have no relief and other days I wont sweat at all. There is no pattern.

In the first 6 weeks of sweating I lost 10kg with little change to my diet or exercise. I have had several thyroid blood tests but all have come back normal. I do however have very high ANA levels which are over 1200.

Apart from the sweating, I have become irratable, I get hot flushes which leads to the sweating and then I become freezing, hair loss, difficulty sleeping & a doctor suggested I had a Goitre but it is no longer noticable. I can handle all the symptoms except the sweating. The weather is warming up which means i wont be able to cover up my wet clothes and I am becoming increasingly anxious & depressed.

I have been passed around to infectious disease specialists, Rheumatologists, a skin specialist & have had countless blood tests. They all seem to have given up and are happy to 'wait and see what happens next'. Do you think this sounds like Hyperthyroidism and if so, is there some other way of being diagnosed like a more specific blood test? Please help!!!

Go to the Mayo Clinic. They are great at diagnosing things that other doctors miss.

You can refer yourself. www.mayoclinic.org (http://www.mayoclinic.org) Three locations in the USA.
