I posted this in other thread, but maybe I can get a better response here.

Recently I overheard my mom talking to a doctor and he said thyroid problems are often misdiagnosed for depression. I've been struggling with depression and severe social anxiety for the past 9 years and its gotten progressively worse.I also noticed the circles under my eyes are getting darker and darker regardless if I use the most expensive creams promising miracles and strong concealers wont cover it up. My energy level is shot down, I can barely wake up by 10 am, I walk around like a zombie, I have absolutely no desire to go on with life and everything seems meaningless, my sex drive is also gone, I cant feel anything. Like I said.. I look and feel like a zombie, walking around, slouching, always shivering, pale, sunken eyes and the worst part I'm only 21 years old. My lifestyle is very healthy, I exercise on daily basis, I'm in excellent shape, I eat healthy/organic foods, plenty of grains, fruits, veggies, not much of a meat eater, but I consume good amount of protein through nuts.
I have an appoitment soon and hopefully they'll be able to tell me something because I cant go on like this anymore, its exhausting to live.

Hi
I am a 43 year old women with diagnosed hypothyroidism and am on treatment. I was diagnosed at 37. Before I knew what I had ,my symptoms consisted of anxiety, no energy, cold all the time, my hair came out frequently in the shower, depression. Many symptoms. The scary one was a change in my mental condition. I forgot alot of things, like what to do at a red light, forgot phone numbers of family members, couldn't remember messages given to me at my preschool (I am a teacher). I see a family practice doctor but STRONGLY recommend you see an Endrocrinologist if you have concerns of the thyroid gland. They will perform more extensive tests than a M.D. They also specialize in any adrenal conditions. My family has many members with thyroid and adrenal conditions and M.D.s have been less than helpful. Good Luck! It will take time, but it will get better!!!
