My husband has had an ongoing problem for several years. On a regular basis during or after eating, he gets a feeling that food is "stuck" in his esophagus. Sometimes this clears on its own, but most times he has to go and regurgitate the food. If he waits too long, he vomits up his stomach contents, too. He has been to several doctors and they have not been able to diagnose any abnormalities. He has had a scope to check his esophagus for strictures and has had a barium check with no result. He is not overeating or eating too fast when this happens. I know this can't be normal - does anyone know what could cause this???? Any help is appreciated!

I have the same problem. Mine was diagnosed a long time ago as damage to the valve at the top of my stomach not closing. This allows food to be "burped" back up.

However it also allows stomach acid to seep up your throat while you sleep.

I sleep with antacids by my bed just in case.
