history of acute severe ulcerative lesions of the tongue, cheeks, so painful I cant swallow even water without terrible pain, first episode included lesions of the genital area as well. the latest outbreak which started about 4 days ago includes terrible headaches, burning nerve pain in my back, swollen throat.......have undergone several diagnostic tests including immune system testing, biopsy, virology bloodwork with last outbreak and none of the pathology workups came up with a diagnosis. doctors assumed some strain of herpes virus although that was never isolated. currently on valtrex and doxycycline but neiher have helped, this outbreak just as severe as last one. Has anyone heard of something like this in the past? first outbreak occured after visit to mexico, although that may be coincidental. HELP!
