Hi, I have had bleeing gums for a number of years now and if i suck at my teeth I have a tongue full of blood. My gums are not sore no bad breath as such and the blood tastes tinny. I also suffer from ulcers. Can anything be causing this? Thank you for your help

Maybe a little but not drastically and they are not swollen red or sore in fact they are quite pale. I thought it was gintivitus or however you spell it but even after treatment its still happening

I am experiencing exactly the same thing. I think I have been for sometime, perhaps 6 months, but in the last week or so it has been really noticeable. If I rinse my mouth out in the morning there is quite a lot of blood but as you describe, no pain and my gums look slightly pale. I have good oral hygiene and a decent diet. I'm only young, 20 years old.
Suppose this is only a question that can be answered with a maybe, but could it be my misuse of certain drugs causing this? I have read that certain drugs can cause bleeding gums but unfortunately it was only prescription drugs I could find information about.
Would appreciate your thoughts on the matter.

Have you had a full blood count done recently to check your iron levels? Bleeding and pale gums can be an indicator of anaemia. You could also be zinc deficient. Do NOT start any treatment of these medications without proof that is the cause because these drugs can cause problems if you arte not deficient in them especially iron.

A friend of mine had the same problem and found that this special toothpaiste http://www.cuprident.com/gumprob which is designed to combat bleeding gums helped out a lot.

I would also like to know if taking drugs causes your gums to bleed, not drugs as in prescribed drugs but as in drugs you'd take on a night out etc.....

I have had this before. The pale gums are a sure symptom of low iron. Also Lack of Vitamin C causes bleeding from the gums. I have to take Vit C every day or it comes back. I got so Vit C deficient I actually was getting spontaneous nosebleeds several times a week also!! Then I read about the symptoms online and possible causes and haven't had any trouble since I started supplimenting with C. Yes, recreational drug use definitely depletes your body of Vitamin C as does many prescription drugs. Good Luck!

I have the same problem, bleeding gums when I brush my teeth, then I can suck my teeth and a mouthful of blood will be there, it's really not nice. Im 21 and Im a smoker, I use mouth wash called corsadyl, It works well to an extent, I hate the dentist and I also have pale gums.
